Lookup Bedford County Inmate Records

Bedford County inmate records are searched through the regional jail system that serves Bedford, not through a stand-alone sheriff jail database. A Bedford County jail roster search starts with the BRRJA Bedford roster, then moves to state, federal, immigration, court, or FOIA channels when the person is not listed. The roster can support booking, charge, bond, hold, release, case, and image fields, but the exact public display depends on the current Bedford configuration. Use the custody system that matches the person's status.

Bedford County Jail Roster

The official Bedford County jail roster path runs through the Bedford Adult Detention Center page on the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority site. The facility page links to "Locate BADC Inmates," which opens the Public Safety Cloud/JailTracker Bedford roster. Sheriff Mike Miller and the Bedford County Sheriff's Office are still central to arrests, sheriff reports, and police-record requests, but BRRJA is the jail operator and the custody-record source for detention-center records.

The Bedford roster should be used for local or regional jail custody, including people booked after a Bedford County arrest when BRRJA publishes them. It should not be treated as a state prison locator, a federal inmate locator, or an immigration-detention search. A sentenced state prisoner may move to the Virginia Department of Corrections locator. A federal prisoner may appear in the BOP inmate locator. An ICE detainee is searched through ICE ODLS. Those systems answer different questions.

Use the Bedford County Inmate Roster

Start from the official BRRJA page rather than a private data site. The roster app may require JavaScript and can require captcha validation. A text-only load can show a Blazor app shell and "Roster Loading," while the app model confirms the presence of name-search, current or released options, captcha logic, offender records, charge rows, bond fields, holds, case references, and image fields. That means a failed browser load is a technical problem, not proof that no Bedford inmate record exists.

  1. Open the BRRJA Bedford Adult Detention Center page and choose the inmate-locator link.
  2. Enter the last name first, then add the first name if too many results appear.
  3. Complete any captcha or search-type control before running the roster search.
  4. Open the matching person record and review facility, charges, bond, holds, case numbers, and release status.
  5. If no match appears, call BADC or BRRJA and check VADOC, BOP, ICE, or Virginia VINE as the facts require.

The Bedford JailTracker source page is the roster interface captured for the official Bedford BRRJA inmate search.

Bedford County Roster Search Fields

The roster field inventory is partly confirmed by the official app model, not a fully rendered text page. Use the fields below as practical search guidance. Bedford public labels can vary by configuration, and the public page may hide released-person settings, image display, charge rows, or other details for some records.

Bedford County Inmate Profile Fields

A Bedford County inmate profile can be more detailed than the result list. The JailTracker model supports offender identity, booking identifiers, charges, bonds, holds, court references, and images. Some fields may be configured off or blank. Read every row as a lead, then verify time-sensitive custody, bond, and release information directly with BRRJA before taking action.

Bedford County Custody Access Channels

The fastest channel is the roster, but it is not the only one. For custody status, start with Bedford Adult Detention Center at 540-587-9282 or BRRJA at 434-847-3100 when the online search fails. For sheriff-created records, use the Bedford County Sheriff's Office FOIA process. For jail-operation, booking, housing, roster, inmate-service, or booking-photo records held by BRRJA, use the BRRJA FOIA officer. For court charges after booking, use the Virginia court case systems.

A focused Bedford County inmate records request should name the record holder and the record type. BRRJA FOIA is the better fit for booking logs, roster records, jail housing, jail service records, and booking-photo questions held by the regional jail authority. Bedford Sheriff FOIA is the better fit for CAD sheets, sheriff reports, arrest reports, and investigative files created by the sheriff's office. The sheriff page states that a request does not have to say FOIA or be in writing, but written requests are preferred and the record must be described with reasonable specificity.

Bedford County Jail Facility

Bedford Adult Detention Center is the only detention facility in the Bedford facility map. It is operated by BRRJA and should be treated as a regional/local adult detention center. The facility page and related BRRJA service pages cover inmate lookup, visitation, mail, phone calls, commissary, money deposits, and records requests. The 2024 BADC annual report showed no active Bedford facility population for that reporting year, so verify current placement before sending mail, money, or a visitor to Broad Street.

Booking Process in Bedford County

A Bedford County arrest may begin with the Sheriff's Office, Town of Bedford Police, Virginia State Police, or another agency. The person is taken through a magistrate or jail-intake channel, where identity, warrants, fingerprints, photographs, property, clothing, health screening, classification, charges, bond, and holds are processed. Virginia's jail-intake design rule, 6VAC15-81-640, supports that process by describing central intake areas for booking, photographing, fingerprinting, clothing storage, and custody transfer.

Newly booked people may not appear on the roster right away. Bedford General District Court publishes arraignments and advisements on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m., and video advisements for incarcerated defendants are scheduled daily as needed based on court schedule and jail video availability. Bond information may appear in JailTracker charge fields if displayed, but the formal release terms come from a magistrate or court. Call the jail before assuming a person is eligible for release.

Bedford County Visitation Rules

BRRJA publishes authority-wide visitation rules. The visible schedule blocks on the official visitation page covered Amherst, Halifax, and Lynchburg, but a Bedford-specific schedule block was not visible. Do not use another facility's hours as Bedford hours. Call Bedford Adult Detention Center before traveling. General BRRJA rules still matter because they apply across sites unless a facility-specific rule says otherwise.

Bedford County Mail and Money

BRRJA personal mail uses offsite scanning. Letters, pictures, and drawings should be sent to the scanning address with the facility name, inmate name, inmate number, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. Mail sent to a site can be returned unless it is legal mail or a money order. Legal mail, checks, and money orders should not be sent to the Phoenix scanning address. BRRJA also restricts Polaroids, oversized photos, nude or revealing photos, books, magazines, newspapers, stickers, glitter, greeting cards with mechanical devices, and other items listed in the mail rules.

Phone calls are through ViaPath/ConnectNetwork. BRRJA publishes a 15-minute maximum and rates of $0.16 per minute for collect, prepaid collect, and debit calls, plus $0.50 per minute for international calls. Funding fees were listed as $5.95 by live agent and $2.95 by IVR or website. Commissary is through Oasis/JailCanteen, and the Bedford facility page links JailATM for inmate-account deposits. Money deposits are not the same as bond unless the jail or court confirms a bond payment method.

Note: Confirm current custody and facility placement before sending money, mail, or a visitor to the Bedford jail.

State Federal and ICE Fallbacks

If the Bedford County inmate record is missing from the BRRJA roster, check whether the person has moved to another custody system. VADOC covers sentenced state prisoners and several supervision categories. BOP covers federal prisoners from 1982 to present and searches by federal number or name. ICE ODLS searches adult ICE custody or CBP custody over 48 hours by A-number and country of birth, or by name, country, and date of birth. Bedford Sheriff materials did not show an inmate-roster app or warrant-search app. The P3TIPS app is for Central Virginia Crime Stoppers tips, not inmate lookup.
